What to expect on this Trike Adventure

We start with picking you up from your hotel within Funchal.

This is a 6 hour tour.

We stop at  Nuns Valley (Curral das Freiras)view point, Eira do Serrado, which is one of the many beautiful places in Madeira.  You will be spoiled with a privileged view over the mountains and the valley of Nuns Valley.

We then head towards Pico Do Arieiro, the 3rd highest peak of the island, at 1810m offering  a superb view of the Madeiran Mountain Massif. We can stop for a coffee at one of the cafe’s, before we head off.

>Along the way to Santana, you will discover the unique flora and fauna of Madeira as we descend towards the Ribeiro Frio Forest Park, a forest which presents itself with green lavishness, (a subtropical forest). You are also able to visit the trout farm, which is an organic trout farm that is constantly refreshed by the natural levada water.

As We continue our journey to Santana, which is located in the north of the island, we pass through the parish of Faial.  There is a fantastic view point located on one of the slopes of the Foz da Ribeira do Faial, which is part of  the municipality of Santana.  It’s called the Guindaste viewpoint, which offers a breathtaking view over the north coast of Madeira. It is an idyllic setting.  The green mountains, the imposing cliffs and the clear tone of the seawater make this viewpoint known for the outstanding beauty of its surroundings.

We arrive In Santana.  It’s known for its Casas Típicas de Santana, traditional stone houses with steep, triangular-shaped thatched roofs.  We will visit one of the original houses of Sanata , which is currently 246 years old.  It is still owned by the original owners and passed down through the generations.

On the return trip, we proceed towards the parish of Porto da Cruz, situated by the sea,  a civil parish in the municipality of Machico.   We may be able to (this stop is time permitting)  visit a sugar cane rum factory.

You will receive a  free rum tasting,  while you learn about the process of production.

As we continue our way back to Funchal,  and only  if we have enough time, we can continue to the Miradouro da Ponta do Rosto view point,  in Ponta de São Lourenço, which is at the eastern end of the island.  From this point, it is possible to glimpse both the north and the south coast of the island of Madeira, and it is home to one of the largest colonies of seagulls in the region. This viewpoint is famous for its panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean.

We return to Funchal, passing before the Pico do Facho viewpoint,  a unique observation point over the city of Machico and the gold sandy beach.

This is possible if  time permits.

We will drop you off at your hotel within funchal after the tour ends.

Important information:

Know before you go

A Lot of the stops are time permitting. Many people re-book this tour as there is so much to experience, and unfortunately can not be seen and experienced all at once.  This tour is completely customisable and is not set in stone.  This may be discussed upon booking.

Due to weather conditions, the road to Pico do Arieiro may occasionally be closed. In this case,  we will do an alternative to this stop point.
