What to expect on this Trike Adventure
Our North West Tour is customised according to what you have seen and what you would like to see, as well as how much time you would like to spend in a particular place. The duration of the tour is 6 hours, and you will undoubtedly see some of the best landmarks on the Island.
We leave from your hotel within Funchal.
If you have not seen Nuns Valley yet,we could start our tour from there.
The Valley of the Nuns (Curral da Freiras) not only is a village built on the crater of an extinct volcano, but it was once a place where nuns would find refuge when pirates attacked the city of Funchal.
Explore the stunning landscapes of the Curral da Freiras (Nuns Valley) on a scenic experience from Funchal. Journey to the centre of Madeira to find dramatic, cloud-topped mountains and verdurous valley’s. Along the way we will stop at The Eira do Serrado viewpoint, which offers fantastic views of the parish of Curral das Freiras (Nuns Valley), and the majestic mountains of the central massif that surround it.
Or if preferred we can start our tour from Câmara de Lobos, the quaint fishing village just west of Funchal with many colourful boats, and filled with bars that sell a variety of local drinks and spirits. The fishing village of Câmara de Lobos is where Winston Churchill spent his time painting his beautiful landscapes and where you will be able to try the famous local drink, Poncha. Câmara de Lobos uniquely reflects the essence of Madeira. Its picturesque and well-preserved streets are not to be missed and explored one the back of one of our custom trikes.
From Câmara de Lobos, we continue to the Cabo Girão Viewpoint, the highest glass walkway in Europe, at 589 metres high. An attraction that certainly must be experienced. .
The Glass Sky Walkway offers incredible views of the Madeira coastline, Funchal and the town of Câmara de Lobos.
We will continue to ride along the West Coast towards Ribeira Brava, a seaside town that has a parish called Serra de Agua. The Encumeada is a breathtaking view point which allows for a beautiful capture with your camera. The panoramic view, with its unique amplitude, reveals to visitors a global perspective of this Atlantic island, allowing you to observe the incredible views of the north and south of Madeira.
It is considered one of the most beautiful places in the world. The aerial view will assuredly amaze you.
“MONTRA DA PONCHA E DO MEL” exclusively comes from this particular parish.
We continue our impressive ride, with spectacular views along the way, toward São Vicente, which is on the North coast of Madeira. This is home to a vast natural and cultural heritage, such as the Laurissilva forest, volcanic caves and historical monuments.
We ride through the eucalyptus forest, which takes about an hour.
Of course we stop along the way to capture moments that need to be cherished.
Depending on what time of the year it is, we ride through some fog which results in a mystical atmosphere.
We head towards Seixal beach. Its landscape has won over lovers of the sea, nature and, of course, photography. It is truly a living postcard. A black sandy beach, bathed by a crystal clear sea.
If you would like to stop for a coffee or lunch (at your expense), we can, or we can head off towards the great valley of Ribeira da Janela (just a pass by), as we continue towards the Village of Porto Moniz where we arrive at around lunch time. Along the way we pass the Véu da Noiva viewpoint , you can appreciate the great waterfall (the Brides Veil), and the old roads along the cliffs.
You can enjoy lunch (at your expense) at the Natural Volcanic Pools of Porto Moniz. So worthwhile that one should experience it.
The Natural Pools of Porto Moniz formed over millennia by the cooling of lava, are one of the main attractions of the north coast of the Island of Madeira. The natural features of these pools allows the constant entry of crystal clear seawater.
We start heading back to Funchal which takes from 45 min to an hour 1, where we will drop you back off at your pick up point or hotel.
